Band C.V.

?SWEET PICKLE? - was the name of my first group aged 11, (I got the name from a jam-jar!) We would perform songs we?d made up (usually about chickens!?.?) every Friday afternoon. ?ECHO?- the first?Proper? band aged 13 with Steve ?Joey? Joseph (drums), & Pete Sinfield (Bass). Became fairly popular around the Grantham area and was my introduction to singing. ?ALBATROSS?- (Or as one concert secretary announced one night: ?Albert Ross!?) - brief period where myself (aged about 16) and schoolmate Brian ?Deggie? Degnan gigged with blind drummer Jimmy Carr. ?KATSIZE? - brother Gary took over on the drums, ?Pilk? joined on the bass ?Deggie? left and ?Prof? Collins replaced him. ?RUFF JUSTICE? - around the age of 18. A rock band introducing Phil Noon on the drums(Brother to Frank Noon ?drummer on Def Leppard?s first E.P. demo, Ex member of Pete Way?s ?Waysted?) guitarist Dave Adlam, ?Pilk? again took Bass duties and vocals were courtesy of Pat Bond. Supported: ?Wildfire? & ?Lionheart? ?2ND TIME AROUND? - re-introduced ?Joey? Joseph as drummer but lasted only for a short while.

?CLIFF RESCUE & THE HELICOPTERS? - Steve and myself then called on Richo (bass) once again and recruited Tim Hall (now with ?Overdrive?) on keyboards ?Tich? Cooper as occasional stand in for Richo on a nice pink bass! ?MAD HATTER? - Vocalist Mark ?Pig? Cleave, Guitarist Matt Walton, Jamie Darling on drums & Rob Wilkins (and later, Kev Soper) on Bass. Supported: ?Girlschool? Radio 1 airplay on Tommy Vance show. An extremely tight and polished band playing hard rock originals and covers, but too many ego problems resulted in an amicable split. For sheer fun, I briefly played some acoustic gigs with Scott McGowan (Now 'dep' guitarist for Les Mckeowns 'BAY CITY ROLLERS').

?CLASSIC TRAX/PRESS GANG? - (Swiftly renamed !) - Backing tracks duo with Richard Davies. SOLO - Quit my dead-end job and decided to go professional. I?ve been doing solo work now for around 8 years. ?THE GUITAR FACTORY?- mainly an acoustic set with lots of 'Light & shade' that really features the guitar playing. **'THE MR. MEN'**- My new Rock/blues band Featuring Richard Davies (Mr. Clang) on Bass/vocals, Leo Brown (Mr. Bang)- Drums, and myself (Mr. Twang) - Guitar /Vocals.

?DIEHARD? - Similar in some ways to ?Justice? with Pat Bond (vocals) and Richo (guitar) with Bassist Phil Britten & Drummer Trev ?Itch? Padget. (Brother to?Overdrive?s Ian ?Scratch? Padget.) ?CATCH 22?- with Norman Locking (Cousin to Brian of the Shadows) on drums, ?Richo (guitar), Mike Argyle on Bass. Later, Mike left, local keyboard wizard Tony Naylor joined, and ?Richo moved over to Bass. Then, ?. Tony left! So we called on the talents of ex.?Kobalts? Tony Mottershaw (regarded as Grantham?s guitar King!). ?ALICE MAGUIRE? - Dale Brett on vocals & rhythm, drummer ?Paz? parish replaced quickly by Steve Topham and Keith Davison on bass. After the first rehearsal we knew we had a great band. Entered and won the Radio Lincolnshire rock band competition in 1988 Played venues such as ?The Rock Garden? and the ?Marquee Club? Supported: ?John Otway?, ?The Steve Gibbons band?, ?The Climax Blues band", ?The Dave Kelly band? and ?Paddy goes to Holyhead? (which on occasion featured former members of ?The Sweet?, "Mud" & ?Whitesnake?). Interest from a couple of major record labels, until sadly the band split and our hopes fizzled out.
